Before we look ahead to New Year's and prepare to ring in 2026, we take a moment to see how the Scandi set celebrated the Christmas that has just passed

After months of meticulous planning, days spent navigating crowded shops, and hours of festive wrapping, the Christmas of 2025 has officially drawn to a close. While a significant portion of the population might still be in a post-holiday food coma, unable to relinquish the embrace of the sofa, having overindulged on the Julbord, we at Vogue Scandinavia are already bright-eyed and eager, ready to dissect the myriad of festive moments the Scandi set offered up during the holiday season.

From fairytale forays to Disneyland to the quiet elegance of cosy home comforts, look at how these seven Scandinavians celebrated the most wonderful time of the year.

Half-Swede Maya Jama enjoyed a "Merry 'Stitch'mas", dividing her holiday time between home and the most magical place on earth. She spent the first part at home with her boyfriend, Rúben Dias, where she embraced the seasonal spirit with red attire, poinsettias adorning the stairs, and a festive spread that included homemade kannelbullar. The second half of her holiday was a trip to Disneyland Paris, where the star fully indulged her love for her favourite character, Stitch, with plenty of themed merchandise, including onesies and plush toys.

Swedish supermodel and two-time Vogue Scandinavia cover star, Elsa Hosk, celebrated Christmas in her Los Angeles home. Posing in vintage Dior, Levi's, and Alaïa in front of a festive red and white bow-decorated tree (with matching ribbons in her daughter Tulli's hair), Hosk was joined by her fiancé, Tom Daley, and daughter. To help combat her homesickness and bring a touch of Scandinavia to the warmer Western American climate, the Swede cooked up a traditional pot of risgrynsgröt (rice porridge).

This year's Christmas portrait of the Swedish royal family introduced a delightful new member. Standing on the grand staircase, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia posed alongside Bonnie, their playful new puppy. The adorable pup, sporting a festive red ribbon, appeared ready to add a charming touch of chaos to the palace's holiday celebrations. The King and Queen themselves looked impeccably elegant as always; His Majesty wore a sharply tailored suit, while Her Majesty opted for a sophisticated two-piece ensemble in a rich, seasonal red.

Finnish supermodel Suvi Riggs, a former Vogue Scandinavia cover star, shared her family's unique take on the festive season with her Instagram followers this year. She posted an adorable photo featuring herself, her husband, and their three children, all coordinating in festive red jumpers and black trousers. The model accompanied the sweet family portrait with her own clever, playful coinage for the holiday: "Merry Riggsmas."

This year, the Danish Royal Family embraced a creative Christmas, focusing on arts and crafts. Queen Margrethe II and her son, King Frederik (who ascended the throne in January 2024), were pictured together making paper tree decorations. This hands-on session followed King Frederik's slight difficulty with mastering the traditional craft of knitting a Christmas heart during a visit to the Old Town in Aarhus the previous year.
