Here are the top places in Denmark's capital for strong coffee and even stronger wifi.

Copenhagen may be an ideal city for picking up a vintage bargain, grabbing a rooftop cocktail or embarking on a romantic first date, but unfortunately, it is also necessary for some of us to get some work done. And while Denmark's capital is home to an abundance of social, lively coffee bars, finding one that doubles as the perfect laptop station is not always an easy feat.

That's where we come in. Whether you like the sound of a quiet coffee bar curated with minimalist design, a culturally-inspiring gallery-style kafeteria or a Parisian-style spot with an outdoor courtyard, Vogue Scandinavia has you covered.

Here is our selection of the city-s best laptop-friendly cafes, fit for stylish sipping and productive work sessions.

Ricco’s Kaffebar

Quite possibly the best cafe-cum-workplace in town, Ricco’s is where you’ll find a local crowd tapping on laptops and sipping copious cups of coffee. The background pitter-patter of laptop keys is accompanied by mellow indie pop and a calm ambience. Beaming with natural light, the large-scale windows create a relaxed work environment while there are numerous small tables where you can set up a workstation - or make yourself at home on the cognac sofas.

And if at any point you find yourself with writer's block, you can refresh with a chai latte and gaze at the wall of modern art, featuring work from a host of local artists.

SMK Kafeteria

Nestled inside the National Gallery of Denmark is a kafeteria where you can be surrounded by two floors of art while enjoying sips of herbal tea and munching on a menu of savoury delights. The spacious cafe is imbued with Japanese and Danish design influences along with high ceilings, long wooden tables and coat window nooks, making for a host of laptop-friendly spots. Charging ports are available but it’s recommended to arrive with a fully-charged laptop if you're planning a full day of work. To power through the afternoon, indulge in a warm soup, sourdough bread or seasonal pastry.

Yum Café

Just around the corner from Ricco’s is Yum Café, a relaxing neighbourhood eatery and water-front yoga studio. Combining a Balinese warmth with Nordic simplicity, the cafe is decorated with pastel hues, hanging plants and a meditative view of the harbour. Wicker chairs and low-slung benches are furnished with soft pillows for added comfort while you work. It’s easy to spend hours in this bright open space, lounging with a laptop, so you’ll be pleased to know there are charging ports dotted all around: by the wicker chairs in the front, above the bench and up the stairs by the sofa.

For a boost of nutritious energy, a rainbow latte, fresh juice or a bite of avocado toast doesn’t go amiss. Though Yum can get crowded during the weekend brunch-rush, it serves as a quiet laptop-friendly retreat during the week.

Democratic Coffee

Serving crafted coffee in the building adjacent to the library, one of most democratic places of all, this cafe’s name couldn’t be more apt. On any given day you’ll find locals waltzing in and out with a laptop under their arms before setting down for a few hours of work. With its understated interior that nods to Nordic simplicity, Democratic Coffee is an idyllic laptop-friendly cafe.

Keep your tastebuds busy with a creamy latte and handcrafted almond croissant. With seasoned baristas on hand at the coffee bar, you’ll be ordering a second cup within no time. Ample seating in the cafe, and in the library upstairs, means grabbing a table in a quiet area is essentially guaranteed.

Paludan Bog & Café

One of the most popular laptop cafes in town, this is where the freelancers flock. Filled with literature and aromatic coffee, Paludan is a conducive place to dabble in some work. Its origin can be traced back to the 1800s when it first opened as a bookstore in Copenhagen’s old Jewish quarter but it wasn’t until the late 1990s that the cafe opened.

Decorated with subtle nods to mid-century design and glass-covered abstract art, the most impressive feature is the vast wall of books on the upper-floor that covers every corner. The best books, however, can be accessed in the basement, containing rare antique finds from the 19th century. It’s almost impossible to snag a table on a Saturday afternoon or at lunchtime during the week, but on a Sunday night, or any weekday evening, Paludan is a coffee-scented haven.

Café Coco

Located in the heart of Vesterbro, Café Coco is found on the ground floor of Coco Hotel, a boutique hotel that embodies the very essence of Frandinavan design. With prouvé chairs, Bauhaus-inspired trolleys and an abundance of Art Deco silhouettes, the eatery feels quintessentially Parisian. Because it's hidden inside a hotel, it’s a somewhat overlooked coffee spot, but this is what makes it all the more laptop-friendly: it’s a quiet location perfect for a few hours of work among tasteful surroundings. On a warm afternoon, take your work station outside where the cafe spills into a courtyard lined with string lights, parasols and lush green leaves.

The Coffee Collective

A beautiful symbiosis of coffee and design, The Coffee Collective has a number of locations across Copenhagen, but it is the Jægersborggade outlet, generous with its seating, that is the most idyllic spot for visits with a laptop in tow. It’s also where the first Coffee Collective beans were roasted in 2007. Clean lines, bright natural light and design features synonymous with Nordic minimalism permeate the space, along with the inviting scent of roasting coffee.
