The best rooftop bar and pool

Located atop the Nimb Hotel inside Tivoli Gardens, Nimb Roof is an exclusive rooftop terrace with panoramic views over Copenhagen. The space is primarily reserved for hotel guests and Nimb Club members, though selected “Summer in the City” evenings open the rooftop to the public during the warmer months.

There’s something wonderfully surreal about leaving behind Tivoli’s rollercoasters and candyfloss chaos only to emerge into this calm, Mediterranean-inspired oasis above the city. The atmosphere feels equal parts Copenhagen cool and Riviera escape, with comfy loungers, soft music and cocktails designed for slow sipping at golden hour. Order something citrusy and sparkling and stay long enough to watch Tivoli light up beneath you.

Perfect for a long wine-soaked dinner date or a dip in the pool.

The best cosy rooftop bar

Hidden atop Hotel Sanders near Kongens Nytorv, this intimate rooftop terrace features a glass-covered roof and limited seating, making it a cosy option year-round. Sanders rooftop is open to hotel guests and visitors, though arriving early is wise as reservations are limited.

Few places in Copenhagen capture hygge quite like Sanders. Lush potted plants and wicker chairs create an ambience of bohemia, while round marble tables and some sharp lines add a touch of Nordic minimalism to the experience. With natural light and atmospheric views guaranteed all year round, it's no wonder that the bar is a favourite among locals. The hotel's award-winning cocktail bar Tata helps provide the alcoholic mixes on the menu, with each drink coming with a twist such as edible accoutrements or theatre-related references; paying homage to the Royal Danish Theatre, which is just up the road. Handpicked organic wines are also available from Sanders Kitchen, making the terrace a sumptuous summer retreat or a welcome antidote to the Danish winter.

The perfect bohemian escape in Copenhagen.

The best rooftop bar for an impromptu brunch

Located in Ørestad, The Living Kitchen by Zoku Copenhagen combines indoor and outdoor spaces including a greenhouse, terrace, kitchen and bar. Open year-round, with the terrace on a first-come, first-served basis, the rooftop welcomes guests for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks without reservations. Because this location features both indoor and outdoor spaces, it works just as well in February as it does in July. Zoku's elevator makes this location incredibly accessible.

Zoku feels more like a creative hideaway than a traditional rooftop bar. There are hammocks tucked into corners, fireplaces glowing in winter and enough greenery to make you briefly forget you’re in one of Copenhagen’s newest neighbourhoods. Come for brunch, order the endless mimosas, and settle in for far longer than originally planned.

For a lazy Sunday brunch where nobody checks the time until sunset.

The best waterfront rooftop bar

Located on the 17th floor of The Silo in Nordhavn, this rooftop restaurant is open Monday to Saturday and welcomes both locals and visitors. Reservations aren't accepted, but the team works on a walk-in basis and aims to find space for everyone. The rooftop terrace offers both indoor and outdoor seating, weather permitting.

The Silo is the epitome of Nordic minimalism and craftsmanship, and against the background of Nordhavn’s harbour the building has become an architectural landmark. While the buildings' futuristic, cubist façade leaves many a visitor in awe – wait until you step inside. As you make your way across the oak floors, clean silhouettes, plush red sofas and impressive windows greet you. Once you enter onto the terrace, your eyes are met with mesmerising views of the city, water and sky.

Up on the rooftop with a glass of wine, luxury has never felt so welcoming. The restaurant offers a rotating wine menu so you never quite know what will be on offer. What is guaranteed, however, is an impressive selection from all around the world.

A calm oasis in the centre of the city, Level Six Rooftop Bar & Terrace sits at the edge of Copenhagen's historic old town and attracts many locals as well as international guests. Only a few minutes away from Rosenborg Castle and the Botanical Gardens, this is an ideal spot to start the night or end a day of sightseeing.

Level Six strikes that difficult balance between stylish and genuinely welcoming. The interiors are dark, moody and polished, while the cocktail menu leans playful with drinks like the Rooftop Rhubarb Vanilla and Elderflower Sour capturing the bright flavours of a Copenhagen summer.

It’s the sort of place where one cocktail naturally becomes two.

The best rooftop bar with sunset views

Perched on top of Hotel Ottilia in the former Carlsberg brewery district, Tramonto is a rooftop restaurant and bar with both indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations are recommended for dinner and sunset hours, particularly in summer.

True to its name, Italian for sunset, this is one of the city’s most atmospheric places to watch the sky shift from blue to pink over Copenhagen’s rooftops. The wine list leans heavily Mediterranean, the cocktails feel made for warm evenings, and the burrata alone is worth the trip across town. There’s an effortless elegance to the whole experience: relaxed but refined, like Milan met Copenhagen and decided to stay for aperitivo.

The perfect rooftop for an escapist evening.
