The Danish style icon and former Vogue Scandinavia cover star takes her seat front row in a new campaign celebrating a Balenciaga icon
When creative director Demna takes to social media to drop something new from Balenciaga, viral situations usually ensure. Throw in 10 of fashion's favourite front-row faces - including Danish style star Pernille Teisbaek – and there's going to be some noise on the internet. Thats what has occurred in the last 24 hours, as the luxury powerhouse released its latest campaign designed to celebrate the Y2K spirit of its Le City bag, first released in 2001.
Captured by director and photographer Lauren Greenfield – an unlikely yet effective choice for a fashion campaign – the scene 'recreates the energy of a Balenciaga runway presentation', evocative of 'pre-show footage from early-aughts fashion TV' with channels with guests scrambling to their seats under the glow of bright truss lights and flashing cameras.

Whole-heartedly embodying her 2000s fashionista persona for the campaign, Teisbaek appears wearing the house's Essex stiletto boots, sleek shield glasses and, of course, a navy-blue leather Le City bag. As Greenfield's camera captures Teisbaek whispering in the ear of neighbouring Devon Lee Carlson, before panning to Paloma Elsesser, Livia Nunes Marques, Sua Lee, Camille Charriere, and Mika Schneider, Olympia of Greece and other front-row frequenters.
In a bold move for any brand, Balenciaga has wiped its entire Instagram account bar the trio of photos of the campaign's front row cast. Time will tell if we can expect more viral moments from Teisbeak, but one thing's for sure: we're bound to start seeing more Le City bags toted around Copenhagen.
