For Max Mara's moody Midsummer-inspired showcase, the honorary Dane and previous Vogue Scandinavia digital cover star went for a darker, vampy look

Forget Emily in Paris, actor Lily Collins looked more like Tim Burton’s macabre heroine Wednesday Addams on a recent outing, than she did our much-loved ditsy expat. The star is currently in Sweden to celebrate the Italian fashion brand Max Mara’s Resort '24 collection and on the first night Collins looked positively angelic in a white and silver mesh gown, paired with a Midsummer-inspired floral garland and beachy mermaid waves. But it was her second look, which she wore to the brand’s presentation, that was a real shift in direction for the star.

Looking deliciously gothic in all-black, she teamed a sheer turtleneck with a high-shine oversized belt and sculptural brocade skirt. She embraced the dark side even further with a vampy rouge noir lip, a burnt orange eye and intricate braided up-do. A marked departure from her usual loose lengths, Collins made a dramatic statement with this Mike Desir creation which takes two plaits from the sides and twists them together at the top. With this punky hairstyle she is the ultimate goth girl pin-up.

Collins isn’t the only celebrity channeling their inner goth. It was only recently that actor Lucy Boynton took to the red carpet with her own version of elevated emo, thanks to her smokey charcoal eye and the tear-like jewel on her lower lash line. Which can only mean one thing: hot goth summer is upon us.
