Emilie Helmstedt teamed up with New York accessory brand Susan Alexandra to showcase an "ecstatic" new jewellery collaboration

“I don’t understand why I haven’t been here before because it feels like home!” Danish designer Emilie Helmstedt gushes, reflecting on her time in New York. “Here, I experience the energy of the whole world in one city.”

Amid the whirlwind that was New York Fashion Week, Helmstedt brought a touch of its magical universe to the streets of the Big Apple. Showcasing its spring/summer ’24 collection ‘Sky High’ in conjunction with the CDFA at 32 Mercer Street, the brand also opened the doors to a whimsical pop-up store in collaboration with cult-favourite local maker of handbags, homeware, jewellery and accessories: Susan Alexandra.

Behind Susan Alexandra is Susan Korn, who describes the pop-up collaboration as a true “meeting of the minds.” “There is so much brand and brain synergy between us, from our love of fruit to our passion for whimsical fairytale worlds,” Korn says. “The brands emerging from Denmark have been so instrumental in shaping the fashion landscape around the world, and it’s a thrill to be involved.”

New York’s coolest crowds of models and artists came together to celebrate the pop-up, which marked Helmstedt’s debut in the US. With Helmstedt sharing that over 60 per cent of the brand’s sales come from the States, further New York appearances could certainly be on the cards for this homegrown hero.
