A month ahead of her wedding to Mondo Duplantis, Desiré Inglander invited Vogue Scandinavia to witness one of her final dress fittings with designer Ida Lanto. Watch the exclusive video below

Last weekend, Desiré Inglander and Mondo Duplantis got married at a fairytale-like venue in Cannes. At long last, the ceremony offered the answer to the big question. Not the question that’s met with ‘I do’, the other big question: what would Inglander wear to walk down the aisle? The answer: an extraordinary custom gown by Swedish couture designer Ida Lanto.

A month before the wedding, Vogue Scandinavia was invited to witness one of Inglander’s final dress fittings. It was only – ahem – fitting; we have, after all, been involved in this wedding from the very beginning. First there was the Hamptons engagement, which we co-produced with Duplantis and announced via a digital cover. Then there was the more recent digital cover, for which Inglander test-drove a plethora of show-stopping wedding gowns and revealed new details about the wedding. Being among the select few invited to see (and even weigh in on) Inglander’s wedding dress ahead of the big day felt just right.

“I hope Mondo likes it,” says Inglander playfully as she shows off the dress. Inspired by the iconic Helen Rose-designed gown worn by Grace Kelly when she wed Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, the gown is both timeless and striking, a nipped waist giving way to a dramatic train. The delicate lace bolero mirrored by a lace trim. Lanto, who’s best known for wedding dresses and decadent gala gowns, proudly points out the details as Inglander’s team struggles to hold back the tears.

On the big day, Inglander paired the dress with dazzling Tiffany & Co. jewellery, her hair swept up in an effortless updo with tendrils framing her face. Duplantis, meanwhile, wore a custom tuxedo by Swedish atelier Saman Amel. His groomsmen wore custom suits by Tiger of Sweden.

The dress was, as Inglander puts it, beyond her wildest dreams. But the real dream was marrying the love of her life in front of her family and friends (wearing waterproof mascara, of course).
