The complete timeline of Mondo Duplantis and Desiré Inglander's relationship

Best wishes and congratulations to our favourite Scandi couple, Desiré Inglander and Mondo Duplantis. Having gotten engaged on Wednesday 9th October 2024, on set with Vogue Scandinavia, it seems the duo have tied the knot (in the official sense - a wedding is set to come in June this year.)

While they have many years ahead of them and a beautiful wedding to finalise, we take this time to reflect upon their relationship. Over four years, we have watched them become ‘Insta-official’, break world records and become bona fide fashion darlings. Join us as we venture down memory lane in anticipation of their wedding.

According to the couple's June 2024 feature with Vogue Scandinavia, it was during a Midsummer party four years ago that the couple met. According to Inglander, she was “very single and not ready to mingle.” Having just graduated from high school, the model and internet star wanted to do her own thing. This attitude, however, did not deter Duplantis from trying to woo her. “The problem was, people flirt in a very different way in Sweden than from where I’m from,” he said in the same article. “[Where I’m from] there’s a lot more talking – you talk for a long time. So at the part I was just trying to talk to Desiré, like ‘Hey, what’s up, I’m Mondo…’ but she didn’t want anything to do with it or me. She just wanted to dance.”

After managing to secure Inglander’s Snapchat handle, Duplantis kept up his attempts to take the model on a date. After months of trying he simply told her “I leave in a few weeks for the United States. Let me take you on a date. Just say yes.” And the rest, as they say, is history.

A big day (in Gen Z terms, anyway) was the day the couple went Instagram official. Inglander posted to her 'main grid' a mirror selfie of the two of them in an embrace, captioned simply with the red heart emoji. Duplantis echoed the sentiment a month later, with a photo of him and Inglander at a sporting event. Captioned ‘Du vet’ (You know) the couple were internet official.

A lot can change in a year, and that is certainly the case for this Scandi couple. 365 days on from their first meeting – a time of somewhat disinterest from Inglander and perseverance from Duplantis – the couple celebrated another Midsummer together, but this time, together.

Inglander posts a sweet message, wishing Duplantis luck at his first official Olympic Games in Tokyo. It was at these games he won his first Olympic gold in pole vaulting.

The duo recreated their first Midsummer photo for Instagram, two years on from their meeting.

Inglander and Duplantis charge into the first full year of their relationship. They pair up with brands such as Omega and Red Bull, proving they are stronger together. The Swedish model continues to follow Duplantis, supporting him as he sets record after record, capturing hearts as he charges into the crowd to celebrate his victories with her.

Duplantis’ documentary Born to Fly premiers, detailing his career from Child prodigy to Olympian. The couple, now basically inseparable, attend the red carpet together.

The couple venture to New York City. While Duplantis soars at great heights for his career, it’s evident Inglander isn’t quite as keen.

In a look reminiscent of James Bond and his Bond Girl, the couple attend the Idrottsgalan (Sports Gala) in Stockholm.

Duplantis beat his own record by vaulting 6.22m at the All Star Perche indoor meet in Clermon-Ferrand, France. As always, Inglander is in the stands, cheering on her man.

With Inglander’s influencing career blossoming, and Duplantis conquering the pole vaulting world, the couple take some time to relax, sailing in Stockholm’s archipelago.

At this point it is tradition. Inglander and Duplantis re-create, once again, their first Midsummer photo together as a couple.

Duplantis becomes World Champion in pole vaulting. Desiré is waiting to receive him in the stands, celebrating his achievement with a kiss.

It's Halloween again. Throughout his career, Duplantis has often been remarked as looking like Linguini from Ratatouille. Not letting the haters get him down, the couple uses the comparison to their advantage, with Inglander taking on the role of Remy, Linguini’s little chef.

World Athletics names Duplantis as Male Athlete of the Year. Inglander attends the award ceremony with him, never failing in her support of the sportsman.

Duplantis wins gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. Desiré travels with him to Scotland for the event, the couple taking the time to explore what the country has to offer.

The couple makes their Vogue Scandinavia debut, a career milestone for Inglander. “As a kid, my mum used to buy Vogue magazines and I would sit next to her while she flipped the pages, drawing of being in there one day,” she says. “It’s like I’ve made little Desiré very proud.”

Foregoing the annual re-creation photo, the couple celebrates their third Midsummer as a pairing (but their fourth in total).

Off to the Olympics again. In Paris, Desiré travelled to support Duplantis as he once again set a world record, bringing home gold for Sweden. As always, the two shared a celebratory kiss, but this one went viral, skyrocketing the pair into the limelight.

Tommy Hilfiger enters the chat. The couple became ambassadors for the American brand, becoming focal characters in advertising in October 2024.

The duo attended fashion weeks for the first time together, making appearances at Bottega Veneta, Hermès and Dior.

Mondo puts a ring on it! Congratulations are in order for both Mondo and Desiré as they get engaged on set with Vogue Scandinavia.

The annual halloween post graces Desiré Instagram, this time with a particularly apt theme as they dress as Mr & Mrs Smith... or should we say Duplantis.

The couple spend their first New Year's Eve as an engaged couple together on a ski trip, keeping things cosy with a log cabin and fireworks.

Once again, the duo attend Idrottsgalan, where Mondo wins two awards for his achievements in athletics.

Mondo and Desiré are in front of the lens in a very new way: as the loved-up stars of Kygo's music video 'Paradise' shot in an exotic locale.

Coachella time! Mondo and Desiré make a pilgrimage to the States to attend the Californian festival mainstay.

Mondo wins Sportsman of the Year at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid. Desiré is, of course, right by his side.

The pair celebrate Midsummer 2025 – and a milestone six years since they first met.

"Soon to be Mr & Mrs." The couple's adorable wedding save-the-dates are sent out, featuring an image from the couple's Vogue Scandinavia engagement shoot.

One centimetre further into the record books. Mondo surpasses his own world record, again, at 6.29 metres, with Desiré cheering him on from the stands.

Desiré's girl gang – including nine (yes, nine) bridesmaids – whip her away for a bachelorette weekend. It's less than a year until the wedding.

We risk repeating ourselves, but Mondo does it again, raising his own world record to 6.30 metres – before the duo share a tender moment of celebration trackside.

That time of year for our costume-loving couple rolls around again, and they knock it out of the park with Grease-inspired shoot.

The couple once again attend Idrottsgalan, where Mondo scoops the award for Sportsman of the Year.

It's time for a dress rehearsal. For Vogue Scandinavia's digital cover, Desiré practices being a bride, trying on a range of couture gowns and spilling some much-anticipated wedding secrets.

Ahead of their June wedding celebrations, the duo officially wed in a civil ceremony at Stockholm's Stadhuset. The news was reported by local Swedish news outlet Expressen on March 20th. "I don't want to comment on it too much," Duplantis told the publication, regarding the wedding, "It's part of the process, but we're saving the big moment."
