Exclusive: Stylein - AW22

By Josefin Forsberg

After a joyous 20th anniversary celebration, the Stylein muse remains in New York for autumn/winter 2022. Here, Vogue Scandinavia exclusively presents the Swedish brand's upcoming collection

"I think I got stuck there. We love to move around and to travel a lot with our collections, but I didn't want to leave New York too soon," founder and creative director Elin Alemdar told Vogue Scandinavia while flipping through the textured camel and cream AW22 garments hanging in a neat row in Stylein's Stockholm showroom. The upcoming collection is a continuation of the brand's anniversary drop, where Alemdar revisited her brand's humble New York origin. "For that collection, we were looking to the young woman designing on the floor of her shoebox apartment," Alemdar says. "This time, our muse has grown up, but she is still exploring Manhattan."

As usual, Stylein brings us elevated classics in a muted colour scheme. Characterised by the soft tailoring – seen in cocooning coats with statement collars and impeccably cut suit trousers – the collection cater to a much more social lifestyle. "We're over leggings and loungewear," Alemdar says. Instead, she is drawn to a more sophisticated look. Such as a rib knit dress worn over matching trousers with a kitten heel or classic suit worn with crisp cotton.

Also showing pre-spring, the designs are bolder and more vibrant. Shoulders are put centre stage, with the often overlooked body part shown love in low-cut and curved tank tops. A winter white suit with a cinched waist in heavy wool, or – for the first time, in a long time – mini dresses in multiple varieties. "We've really fallen for the mini," Alemdar comments.

Captured by Hanna MW and Rami Hanna, we want to traverse the city in these illustrious autumn looks.
