Once a closely guarded Nordic secret, Swedish hair extension brand BHBD is now firmly on Hollywood speed dial

Ever since Suki Waterhouse stepped out in Swedish BHBD extensions at the 2025 Met Gala, it was clear that the once “if-you-know-you-know” brand wouldn’t remain a tightly held Nordic beauty secret for long. Fast forward to the Golden Globe Awards 2026, and BHBD was the force behind not one, but two of the night’s standout updos.

First up: Kirsten Dunst’s sculptural chignon, created by celebrity hairstylist Owen Gould using invisible BHBD Balayage extensions. “Effortless elegance was the guiding inspiration for Kirsten’s Golden Globes look,” Gould explains. “Her Tom Ford emerald gown featured a dramatic plunging back, so we chose a swept-up style to highlight those striking details.”

After blow-drying, Gould sectioned the hair and added extensions in shade 9NG/11N, noting that they delivered extra fullness, texture, and a seamless colour match. Once secured, each section was curled away from the face using a large-barrel curling iron. “The final step was softly gathering the hair back and up into a chignon,” he says, pinning each section while leaving a few face-framing strands loose for softness.

Another standout came courtesy of Leighton Meester. According to hairstylist Clariss Anya, the look was designed as a counterpoint to the bold metallic elements of Meester’s Miu Miu gown. “The dress called for something softer,” she explains, “so the hair was kept feminine and romantic.”

Anya began with a smooth blow-dry using a large round brush, then returned with a curling iron to build gentle texture and dimension. The hair was divided into two sections, above and below the ears, before a few BHBD tape-in extensions were added for fullness. Each ponytail was then twisted into a soft knot, with wispy, undone pieces left out and secured using French hairpins for a clean, unfussy finish.
