Vogue Scandinavia's editor in chief Martina Bonnier reveals her second collaboration with Swedish fine jewellery label Rare Jewelry. Bold, beautiful and beyond meticulous in construction, learn everything there is to know about this three-piece collection below
During the first week of December, Rare Jewelry and Vogue Scandinavia took over Ett Hem to celebrate the bijoux brand's 10th anniversary, marked by a feature in the magazine's latest issue. This was, however, not the only cause for celebration. At the event, editor in chief Martina Bonnier and Rare Jewelry founder Dannie Larsson also unveiled a surprise collaboration.
"It's a lovely combination,” Larsson comments on working with Bonnier, who has been a longtime friend and advocate of Larsson. In fact, Bonnier first encouraged the jeweller to reject our local ‘lagom’ mentality and to push the brand to the expressive aesthetic it proposes today. "It's so fun to work with Dannie," adds Bonnier. "She's not Swedish in the shy way others are. She's built her brand on being more daring and more bold, and I think she has given the Swedish jewellery industry something that it has been lacking. We also share the same love for coloured gemstones and boldness in jewellery. Dannie always understood my vision coming from the fashion world, but translated it into fine jewellery."
It is not the first time the two have joined forces, but the new collection is the most colourful and extravagant to date. The first piece in the collection is a cocktail ring - a vibrant shock of green and purple. “I’ve always loved a cocktail ring,” comments Bonnier. “I love that they are so much of a conversation piece and a statement.” The ring in question certainly lives up to that description. “When talking about jewellery colours, green is often the point of reference, so green was a must-have,” says Bonnier, highlighting the colour's significance. So much so that it was named the jewellery trend to watch in December 2025.
In this specific design, the green takes centre stage with a magnificent cushion-cut, vivid tourmaline at the core. Surrounding this central stone is a halo of 16 alternating marquise-cut tsavorites and lilac sapphires arranged to resemble delicate petals. “Together with the purple and the tsavorites, the piece gets such a depth,” says Bonnier. “That is also why we set it in white gold; it makes the green and the purple stronger.”

The ring is finished with Rare Jewelry’s signature diamonds: 16 marquise-cut and 12 round brilliant-cut stones. “We used the diamonds to get more sparkle,” Bonnier explains. “But the construction that was Dannie’s idea.” The diamonds are mounted to create movement and depth. “It means that sparkle comes from every direction,” she adds. “The light hits it and makes it so much more eye-catching. A cocktail ring should be intriguing, and that’s what this does.”
Ergonomics were just as important as visual impact. “It moves with the finger,” Bonnier says. “It doesn’t look chunky; instead, it is almost integrated into the hand. And that is the complication of the ring – to get the balance right in how you build it up.”
The second cocktail ring offers a softer scale and warmer tones. “In this case, we chose pink and orange stones and encased them in yellow gold,” Bonnier explains. “It gave a contrast to the other ring and brought warmth.” Three oval-cut centre stones anchor the design: a pink sapphire flanked by two mandarin garnets. Surrounding them are marquise-cut pink and orange sapphires, finished with a halo of six marquise-cut and 12 round brilliant-cut diamonds. “This ring, it's so feminine and sweet,” Bonnier says. “It’s almost like a little candy itself. And it's smaller, so maybe it's easier for people to wear.”

The final piece is a necklace that mirrors the palette of the second ring. Set in yellow gold, it features 13 marquise-cut pink sapphires and 10 marquise-cut orange sapphires leading toward a cushion-cut mandarin garnet and a cushion-cut pink sapphire drop. Twenty-three round brilliant-cut diamonds add lift without overtaking the colour.
“I love the necklace,” Bonnier says. “It's gorgeous – and again, it has a softness, a sweetness and a femininity, but in my mind it's also a little exotic. It’s like a flower you would see out in nature, and that really has been the inspiration for this set.”
