Rare Jewelry and Martina Bonnier host an intimate dinner to celebrate their otherworldly capsule of cocktail rings

Yesterday evening, in the cosy glass-encased orangery in the courtyard of Ett Hem, a carefully curated group of Stockholm tastemakers gathered to marvel at something truly extraordinary. The creations in question? Two unapologetically decadent cocktail rings meticulously crafted by Rare Jewelry in collaboration with Vogue Scandinavia Editor in Chief Martina Bonnier. Made to honour Rare’s 10th anniversary, the rings gorgeously embody Rare and Bonnier’s love of maximalist, diamond and gemstone-forward jewellery. No wonder the guests, who enjoyed an elegant three-course dinner after their diamond-encrusted amuse bouche, were so enchanted.

“The inspiration comes from nature,” says Rare Jewelry founder Dannie Larsson, who cohosted the evening with Bonnier. “But I wouldn’t say Swedish nature.” Indeed, the two rings, each an assemblage of diamonds and gemstone petals arranged to create two extraordinary flowers, are unlike anything one would find in the archipelago. One is made of purple sapphires and green tourmaline, the other orange marquise and pink sapphire. Both, of course, are finished with diamonds.

The vibrant colour combination – the purple and green, specifically – came courtesy of Bonnier. “It’s fun, because Martina comes from the fashion world, she has one type of colour in her head. It’s a lovely combination. I would never think of that myself,” says Larsson. Bonnier, meanwhile, describes the singular hues as “vibrant and eclectic in a unique and fun way”. The gemstone petals, meanwhile, are unfixed, dancing and swaying as the lucky wearer moves their hand, emphasising the organic design of each ring.

According to Bonnier, she and Larsson speak the same language when it comes to jewellery. “It’s so inspiring to work with Dannie,” she says. “We share the same love for coloured gemstones and boldness in jewellery. Dannie always understood my vision coming from the fashion world but translated into fine jewellery.”

There was further cause for celebration; just hours before guests took their seats for dinner, the latest issue of Vogue Scandinavia, featuring none other than Pamela Anderson on the cover, was released. Within the magazine, a gorgeous editorial honouring Rare’s 10th anniversary.

The intimate setting (“You have a calmness there unlike anywhere else – it feels like home,” says Dannie of Ett Hem) and eclectic guest list made for an evening as dazzling as the jewellery. Lena Ohlin (who has collaborated with Rare in the past) caught up with couture aficionado Fredrik Robertsson. Also around the table: artists Lisa Larsson and Clara Hallencreutz, stylist Maria Barsoum and actor Fares Fares. “All the guests have something rare,” notes Larsson. “They all have their own styles and our proud of their own identity.”

It was a full-circle moment for Bonnier and Dannie, who have been friends and collaborators for years (Bonnier previously made a cocktail ring the brand – the Martina ring). In fact, it was Bonnier who encouraged Larsson to embrace her more-is-more aesthetic when she launched Rare a decade ago. “Martina was the first one to tell me 10 years ago that ‘you cannot do lagom,” says Larsson. “And from that day, I never tried to do anything modest.”
