Amongst the Moomin mania of Tove Jansson’s anniversary year – celebrated through Vogue Scandinavia's October/November cover – Lily Collins is getting her daughter in on the lore early
Lily Collins has made no secret of her enduring fascination with Moominvalley. The Emily in Paris star, honorary Scandi and fervent Moomin enthusiast has, in the past, proudly brandished her enthralment with the nostalgic Swedish-speaking Finnish characters. From an appearance on the official Moomin podcast, to adapting one of Jansson's preeminent adult novels, The Summer Book into a film with her husband, Charlie McDowell, and even choosing to adorn her mid-century Los Angeles home with original illustrations by Tove Jansson – Collins' endorsement is loud and proud.
Now, in an effort to pass the baton down to her daughter (aptly named Tove), the British actress' obsession has seeped into story time. Cutely captioned ‘My and my lil T…' her recent Instagram post offers a glimpse into her new role as a doting mother, reading the allegorical Nordic childhood classics, Pippi Longstocking and Lilla My to her curious 11-month-old.

The recent post's raison d'etre however, was Collins' coordinating cheeky 'Lilla My' sweater, swiped straight from Patou's Moomin-themed winter capsule that emerged earlier this month. Designed by Guillaume Henry in collaboration with Moomin, the festive knit features a Merino wool intarsia of the free spirited, idiosyncratic Lilla My (Little My), who frolics alongside the enchanting white bulbous inhabitants of Moominvalley. Cosy, colourful and suffused with character, it is the sweetest way to pay homage to Tove Jansson's 80-year-old franchise, and to feed tiny Tove's imagination.
