The cyclical nature of trends entails that they come and go on a regular schedule. However, some withstand the test of time, cementing themselves firmly as key pieces in our closets. The latest accessory to do so is the knee-high boot. Ruling supreme both on and off the runway, the knee-high boot offers a surprising amount of styling versatility – as proven by the style set. Street stylers stuffed their versions with skinny jeans or leggy leather trousers, wore them with mini skirts and short shorts, or layered them under swathing hemlines.
One front the street stylers found themselves united on, however, was the precise height of the boot. True to its name, whether made from leather, rubber, with a heel or no heel, they all reached just below the knee. It is a detail easy to miss, but that makes all the difference in appearance – cut to any other height, and the shoe no longer has its everlasting appeal.
