Scandinavia's most important music festival is just around the corner. From wool socks to bikinis, pop princess and festival veteran Sigrid shares how to make the most of music's biggest night

Roskilde is a special kind of festival. What many revere as Scandinavia’s most influential music jamboree, Roskilde is a five-day-long music extravaganza in the Danish countryside. Known for its beautiful views and star-studded line-up, it also comes with a fair share of twists and turns that requires an expert’s assistance.

Do not fear because Sigrid, the 25-year-old pop savant from Norway, is here to help. Playing Roskilde for her third time this year, it is safe to say she knows and understands the ropes. From the perfect outfit to finding your ultimate festival persona, Sigrid has all the answers.

When we sit down to chat about Roskilde, Sigrid is finishing up her final show of her tour in Pari. We meet over zoom, and she is smiling through the screen with a cup of tea in hand. I simply ask her, “what is your favourite part about Roskilde,” expecting her to think about her answer for a while. Before I even finished posing the question, she answered, “the catering,” breaking into laughter.
