Herskind - SS26

By Eleanor Kittle

Herskind has always been for women, but this season it is bolder than ever. A sentiment permeates every stitch and seam; the Danish label is championing a new duality for women, to choose to be both/and rather than either/or for spring/summer '26

This season, Herskind is boldly redefining its aesthetic language. The Copenhagen-based brand continues to honour its signature interplay between masculine structure and feminine fluidity – those timeless sensual silhouettes, sharp tailoring, and soft, sheer transparencies remain. But, for spring/summer '26, the balance is shifting. The power of the feminine is stepping forward with unapologetic force, exuding a quiet, unwavering grace. This season speaks with clarity: "I am woman, I am fearless."

"We never wanted to narrow us down to a type," say Herskind's founders Birgette Herskind and Andres Hess. "What we care about is a woman's mindset – her strength, her curiosity, her confidence in being many things."

For the design duo, this collection is a celebration of duality without compromise. It's a rejection of the reductive either/or mentality that has so often defined femininity, even in the modern era. Instead, SS26 champions the both – a woman who can be commanding and soft, bold and understanding, structured and free. This ethos is woven into every detail of the collection, from the architecture of a sharply cut blazer to the whisper of a silk organza blouse. But the undisputed hero of Herskind's SS26 offering is the skirt. Once a symbol of restriction – with hemlines governed by social norms – it's now being reimagined by the Danish label as a statement of empowerment. "I believe in skirts for SS26," states Herskind. "There's a freedom in them, and a power too."

This season's skirts embrace that duality, exploring both liberation and bold femininity, all, of course, in the brand's characteristically muted colour palette, yet with pops of citrine, red and soft blush. Styles included from daringly cheek-baring transparent silk organza skirts with built-in briefs that walk the line between dressed and undressed. On the other end of the spectrum, elegantly floor-grazing maxis offer a more romantic, sweeping silhouette. Herskind's skirts don't simply follow fashion - they challenge it, offering women a wardrobe rooted in both strength and sensuality.

To complement the myriad of skirt styles, the label unveiled an array of versatile separates – corset tops, lace-trimmed bodysuits, and crisp white shirts designed to be mixed and matched with ease. There was also a sense of movement and ethereal softness in the collection, with lightweight, embroidered and sequinned harem pants that floated down the runway. And of course, no collection is complete without a nod to the classic little black dress - this season reimagined with a balcony neckline and delicate lingerie-inspired detailing.

Naturally, it wouldn't be a Herskind show without a moment of tailoring. Blazers came in every silhouette imaginable: some sharply sculpted at the shoulders to accentuate the waist, others cleverly designed with zips for modular styling – transforming into vests – and still more oversized and languid, exuding effortless cool.

Herskind isn't just evolving. It's leading. And this season, the message is crystal clear: the future of fashion lies in complexity, authenticity, audacity, and fearless self-expression.
