Breakfast by the pool, elevator run-ins with A-listers, and a red carpet moment she can only describe as surreal: Norwegian model and content creator Emma Ellingsen was in Cannes last night as a guest of Sol de Janeiro, with a beauty routine every bit as considered as the occasion demanded
Take us through your Cannes morning routine. What do the first hours of each day look like during the festival?
I try to sleep as long as possible to get my beauty rest. Today I had my very first massage, which was amazing and so relaxing. Then I had breakfast by the pool to unwind before getting fully ready. I also put on some Rhode eye patches, which isn't something I normally do at home, but this is Cannes so it felt like the right moment to go a little extra.

What's inside your beauty bag this week, and what have you been reaching for most?
I'd describe my beauty mood for the trip as girly, sparkling, romantic. And so I have been reaching for my lipliner in Nougat from Caia. It is non-negotiable. I feel completely naked without it. I also just fell in love with Sol de Janeiro's Glowmotion Glow Oil. It gives me the most perfect body glow for the red carpet, and I've been reaching for it constantly. And of course my self-tanner, because even in Cannes you want to look bronzed and glowy.
What scents are you drawn to in summer, especially somewhere like the South of France?
I love the smell of summer: warm, sweet scents that make you feel like you're on a beach. My signature is Roberto Cavalli Signature, and it's the perfect one for an occasion like this. But then there's the jelly perfume balm 62, which has quickly become a new obsession. Having perfume in balm form is so handy for touch-ups throughout the day.

What have been some standout moments from the trip so far?
My beauty sleep, a good shower, and a good body lotion. I cannot stand skipping moisturiser after a shower. I've been loving the Sol de Janeiro Badalada 48 Hour Body Lotion on this trip. It's so soft and lightweight, which is perfect for warmer weather and for prepping my skin before the red carpet.
Festival schedules can be intense. What helps you stay confident and fresh after long days and late nights?
I'm staying at the Hotel Martinez, where all the big celebrities stay, so I've had some fun and interesting encounters in the elevator. I can't say more than that.
And the red carpet moment was incredible. But it was also so surreal to meet the cast of the film while watching it together. One of those moments you can't quite believe is happening.
