At the photo call for Affeksjonsverdi (Sentimental Value), Elle Fanning declared this the summer of Norwegian director Joachim Trier with a custom t-shirt
While the Cannes red carpet – and subsequent photo calls – are often a place of unapologetic glamour courtesy of the world’s most renowned fashion houses, today Elle Fanning made a different sort of fashion statement. Attending the photo call for Affeksjonsverdi (Sentimental Value), the American actor wore a t-shirt that declared, simply: “Joachim Trier Summer”.
It’s a fitting sentiment; not only does Fanning star in the Norwegian director’s film alongside former Vogue Scandinavia cover star Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgård, Affeksjonsverdi earned the festival’s longest standing ovation thus far. At last night’s premiere, attendees stood and clapped for a whopping 19 minutes.

Fanning’s shirt, which features the slogan crudely scrawled, is courtesy of Dylan’s T-shirt Club, a streetwear brand founded by an 11-year-old named – you guessed it – Dylan. For those hoping to get their hands on the shirt to pledge allegiance to Trier, you’re out of luck; Dylan’s T-shirts are one-of-a-kind and drawn by hand.
This isn’t the first time a white T-shirt has turned heads at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Earlier this week, Alexander Skarsgård turned up at the Pillion photo call in an extra tight t-shirt featuring Tom of Finland boot-licking artwork.
To complete the look, Fanning wore light wash flare jeans, chunky wooden platforms and an elegant silk scarf tied around her head – a cheeky '70s moment on the Croisette. Are you ready for Joachim Trier summer?
