This season Day Birger et Mikkelsen is celebrating the woman “who looks put together but never done up”
For AW22, Day Birger et Mikkelsen creative director Christina Exsteen was inspired by “the inherent beauty in women”. The sort of women who “look put together but never done up.” It’s very Danish, really – Copencore, even – this ease of dressing that’s oh so appealing.
This is a woman who looks at home in both a high-necked peasant dress, decorated with teeny tiny florals, and a tweed blazer with sharp shoulders. This is a woman who owns a trench coat and a leather jacket and wears them interchangeably, depending on her mood. One who carries an oversized fluffy fringed scarf. This is a woman who might wear a brilliantly tailored suit, cinched at the waist and decorated with gold statement buttons, in lieu of a cocktail dress.
This is any woman with great style, really, who, as Exsteen puts it, “insists on being classy and sexy at the same time.”
