On the sun-drenched rooftop of Club Albane, Swedish actor Fares Fares cut a dashing figure at the Dior x Madame Figaro party donning Oscar Jacobson, Dior Beauty, and just the right amount of Riviera swagger. Here, we break down his Cannes Film Festival after-dark look

Every year in May, the sparkling lights along the Cotes D'Azure glow a little brighter as celebrities and cinephiles alike decend on Cannes Film Festival. A flurry of red carpets, gala dinners, and after parties ensue, each with jaw-dropping, carefully curated ensembles on parade – even despite this year's refreshed code, putting a halt to both nudity and oversized ballgowns.

The hottest after-hours ticket, however, has to be the annual Dior x Madame Figaro party. With A-listers flocking to Club Albane rooftop with its an expansive view over all the yachts parked in the Mediterranean, it's easy to see why. Among them, was Swedish actor Fares Fares. In town to promote the Palme d'Or nominated Eagles of the Republic, a competition film directed by Tarik Saleh, he looked dapper in a classic Zegna tuxedo at the premiere which ended with an eight minute standing ovation.

Dapper suits aside, Fares relied on Sarbast Gli – international pro-team makeup artist for Dior – to put the finishing touches to his refined red carpet look. “The goal was a natural elegance with just a hint of glamour," says Gli. "I began with the Sauvage Skincare Ritual Set to create a fresh, radiant base. Then, I used Forever Skin Correct Concealer in shade 3W to even out the complexion and subtly blur any redness, finishing with the Natural Velvet powder in 2W. For the lips, I chose Rouge Dior Balm. it leaves them soft, moisturised, and perfectly understated.”

For the Dior-hosted afterparty, however, Fares favoured something slightly more rugged. Sporting retro shades at night, a suave white blazer by Swedish Oscar Jacobsen and a back-and-white striped shirt, he painted a debonair picture for the night. One that could've just as easily been snapped during the Riviera's 1970s heyday.

What truly tied the look together was the grooming. Perfectly undone, the pushed back hair and the bushy beard landed itself perfectly to the overall look – minutely perfected by Brice Tchaga, Dior Beauty's global grooming expert. With the Cannes-kissed subtle tan and a Dior Beauty touch up here and there, we're giving his ruggedly handsome look for the night a standing ovation.
