Fresh faces, blushed cheeks, and windswept hair plucked straight from the heath – be it Austen or Jane Eyre, for spring/summer '24 we're bringing a bit of the British isles back to the Nordics
Since its inception, TikTok has been a breeding ground for beauty trends. But, If you're bewildered by 'latte' makeup and befuddled by 'strawberry girls', we suggest returning to the classics. One of the original beauty 'aesthetics', the Regency era's 'English Rose' dominated the recent London runways.
The look, often typified by a fresh yet flawless complexion, punctuated by a natural rosy cheek and laissez-faire hair, celebrates countryside living – crisp morning walks through the fields followed by a day spent in the garden. And while this is a luxury few can afford, we can absolutely replicate it with the right tools.
Below, Vogue Scandinavia gets a better look at the London Fashion Week beauty trend to try.
The fresh face
Skincare is essential when looking to emulate the 'English Rose'. Use the lotions and potions in your beauty cupboard to create a clean, dewy canvas primed with hydration. That said, we can all use a little makeup magic.
Start with a hydrating primer that smooths out imperfections and prepares your skin for a light makeup application. Follow this with a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturiser to blur away any imperfections, especially when sparingly paired with a good concealer for blemishes and dark circles. But always remember to blend, blend, blend to keep it natural.
The blushed cheeks
A liquid or cream blush works wonders to replicate the rosy flush of a jaunt through the countryside as it effortlessly blends into the skin, mimicking the texture and sheen. Using a pink tint (cool or warm tone depending on your preference and skin tone), lightly dab the product onto the apples of your cheeks, then blend upwards towards the temples using either your fingers or a makeup sponge.
The windswept hair
Effortlessly tousled but never unkempt are the guiding words for any aspiring Austin heroine. Soft waves or gentle curls, swept to the side by strong winds, are precisely the look we're going for, evoking a sense of rural romance.
To achieve this, use a minimal amount of styling product to keep your hair flexible and touchable. A light misting of texturizing spray or a dab of styling cream can add the desired body and movement. The overall effect should be carefree yet composed, crafting a look that seems unintentional and irresistibly charming.
