We’re only halfway through Copenhagen Fashion Week autumn/winter '26, and one thing’s already clear: the yuppie is back – with a vengeance
This season, designers took a cue from Cher and turned back time – straight to the deal-making, pinstripe-wearing, shoulder-padded revelry of the 1980s. A full cast of characters hit the runways, each paying tribute to the decade of the yuppie (read: 'young urban professional', as coined at the time) in their own way.
There were the literal references: the glamorous grit of a 1980s New York bar at Gestuz, or the copy-and-paste Grace Jones silhouette at Herskind (salopettes and sharp shoulders are what sartorial dreams are made of). At Forza, opera coat-style cocoons came with blue tights and bubblegum heels – really helping this journalist make her point.

Gestuz.

OpéraSport.

Forza.

Herskind.
But the '80s crept into the details too: bamboo toggles on toggle coats, shearling linings, lace tights, and stirr-up leggings. Giant bows and shimmy-friendly shoulders at Caro Editions (who’ve basically absorbed the decade into their DNA by now). Even a puff of peplum or a bold polka dot made its presence known.
For now, we’ll keep our eyes on the runways, but one thing’s already certain: this season’s best accessory might just be a Walkman and a brick phone.
