Wood Wood - SS24

By Josefin Forsberg

Ever feel like your wardrobe needs a touch of philosophy? Evolving from its underground autumn/winter '23 rave, this season Wood Wood takes on a more reflective runway

Few brands are as adept at capturing a moment or a movement as Wood Wood. If the autumn/winter '23 collection was a pulsating tribute to rave culture with its neon brights and shearling-trimmed ensembles, then spring/summer '24 is the thoughtful morning-after. The reflection in the mirror after the dance floor has cleared.

Proposing a shift from the sensory overload of AW23 towards the more introspective elegance of SS24, Wood Wood demonstrates its mastery of a multifaceted design approach. It’s a brand that can throw an unforgettable party and then sit down with you the following day to discuss dreams and hopes over coffee.

Dubbed 'SolidAir', the SS24 collection invites you to consider its collection as a thoughtful pause. As Wood Wood puts in writing: "a moment of reflection and catharsis." We find ourselves wrapped in shades of grey, with the occasional splashes of sky blue and cornflower lending a soothing touch, while bursts of juicy orange provide some much-needed zest. The palette is subtler, mirroring a capricious Copenhagen summer.

The main body of the SS24 collection remains casual, with touches of relaxed tailoring and romantic drapes. It’s more nuanced, filled with details that call for a second glance, unlike the in-your-face vibrancy of the previous season. The fabrics are diverse: leather-like waxed denim, linen, and light-wool pinstripe suiting. Not to forget the neoprene and viscose mesh that will make you want to reach out and feel the texture. Crushed cotton adds a nuanced texture to shirting and simple summer dresses.

If this is what "lamenting the end of summer" looks like, we might just be ready for autumn.
