Uniqlo and Marimekko unveil an exclusive capsule collection of “warm and joyful dressing” that we can't wait to get our hands on

The much-beloved design duo is back as Marimekko and Uniqlo join forces in a festive collaboration. The last time the Finnish design house teamed up with the Japanese retailer was in 2021 when they released a capsule collection inspired by the joy and exuberance of Nordic midsummer. This time, the limited edition collection draws from a colder climate, celebrating the New Year with a selection of functional, cosy and warm winter essentials.

With nine pieces for women and girls, the collaboration seamlessly blends Marimekko’s iconic prints with Uniqlo’s signature cold-weather staples, including soft fleece and functional HEATTECH® fabric. Co-ord sets featuring relaxed jackets and skirts crafted from snuggly fleece add a playful twist to winter clothing, while turtlenecks and socks are undoubtedly essential when bundling up for sub-zero temperatures.

Unlike the duo’s previous collaborations, the New Year’s collection boasts a more earth-toned palette of beiges, whites, blacks, and greys, reflecting nature’s calming and serene hues during this season. The capsule’s aptly chosen Marimekko prints feature three Maija Isola classics: Kivet (Stones), Kissapöllö (Tawny Owl) and Seireeni (Siren), which all take their cues from our magical environment. The fourth print, Hattara (Wisp), comes courtesy of acclaimed fashion designer Pentti Rinta, drawing inspiration from nostalgic cotton candy clouds.

The Uniqlo x Marimekko New Year’s Collection launches on the 11th January 2024. It will be available at the Uniqlo stores and online.
