“I'm proud to say that every detail of the knitwear, including the stitching and the seams, is designed to brings joy to the wearer,” British designer Anya Hindmarch says of her new collection with Uniqlo
Uniqlo has announced a collaboration with British brand Anya Hindmarch, which will be available from Thursday, November 23, at Uniqlo shops and its official online store. Founded in 1987 by its eponymous designer, Anya Hindmarch has become popular thanks to its bags and leather goods that incorporate pop motifs like emojis. In 2007, it launched a series focused on sustainability and its “I'm NOT A Plastic Bag” quickly became a hot item coveted by discerning style-setters.
The collaboration has comprises three knitwear styles for women and children. The line-up is made of high-quality lamb’s wool knitwear of approximately 19.5 microns, bicolour cashmere garments with hand-stitched cuffs, and items incorporating Anya Hindmarch’s iconic eye motif. Pieces using Uniqlo's Heattech material will also be available, including a humorous knitted beanie with the eye motif peeking out.
The designer has long been a big fan and customer of Uniqlo, buying everyday clothes for herself and her five children. She shares that one of the points she focused on for this collection was how to add a twist while using the existing colours and silhouettes from other Uniqlo items. “I'm proud to say that every detail of the knitwear, including the stitching and the seams, is designed to brings joy to the wearer,” Hindmarch says.
The campaign features British model Olympia Campbell. The photographs present Campbell in relaxed and casual moments, embodying the cheerful optimism that characterizes the collection.
“We feel a strong affinity with Anya Hindmarch’s philosophy which is built around creativity, modern craftsmanship, and a customer-focused approach to clothing design, which Uniqlo is also pursuing. There’s a definite affinity between Hindmarch and Uniqlo’s approach to producing clothing,” commented Yukihiro Katsuta, senior executive officer and head of Uniqlo R&D. “By infusing Uniqlo’s essential wear with Hindmarch’s trademark humour, we have created an exciting new line that is perfect for the holiday season,” he added.
Uniqlo’s collaboration with Anya Hindmarch will be available in Uniqlo shops and its official online store beginning Thursday, November 23.
