Steering away from spectacle once again, Toteme returns to Paris to do what it does best for AW26
Returning to Paris' parquetry-lined interiors for autumn/winter – while New York’s gallery-like spaces remain the brand’s preferred setting for spring/summer – Toteme continues the international rhythm it has now firmly established. Presented by founders Elin Kling and Karl Lindman in the brand’s Paris showroom (a former Swedish club founded by Alfred Nobel, the AW26 collection proved one that reinforces the Toteme preference for focus over fanfare.
Expressive in its Swedish-inflected sophistication, the AW26 runway collection is an exercise in 'feminine verve', as articulated by the show notes. Athletic, wardrobe-building pieces are lent renewed stridency with the kick of a sculptural silhouette. Seemingly minimalist fabrics in shades of noir, with a pop of cherry red, are endowed with unexpected drama, including buttery leather lined with cashmere.
Meanwhile, pierced-toe leather pumps lend edge and bags skew city-slick, with the biker-coded Mercer tote joining the lineup alongside the T-lock slung crossbody on ornamental chains. True to Toteme, each look is an invitation to personality, serving a woman of substance.
