There are probably a million guides to New York, and guaranteed even more opinions on where you should eat, drink, and spend those precious hours (or, let's be more realistic, minutes) between shows during Fashion Week. But, rather than add another exhaustive list to the mix, I decided to ask a few of my favourite Scandis to divulge their own tried-and-tested New York digs.
Because who is better to ask than the people who know how to do the city properly? The sort of places you return to every time you land at JFK: the local restaurants worth crossing Manhattan for, the dimly lit wine bar where one glass inevitably becomes three, or the tucked-away spot you almost don't want to tell anyone else about.
So, as we bid New York Fashion Week adieu, I called upon a handful of Scandinavian tastemakers – Sophia Roe, Philippa Parnevik and Hanna Marzouki Widlund – to share the addresses actually saved in their phones, spanning beloved eateries, wine bars, neighbourhood staples, and places they habitually visit when in town.
Consider this less of a New York City guide and more of a well-connected friend passing you their little black book. Whether you have a free afternoon in SoHo, need a hotel recommendation, or want somewhere for a post-show martini, these are the places to know.
