The 9 covetable takeaway trends from CPHFW SS26

By Allyson Shiffman

From feminine flourishes to a revamp of Scandinavian minimalism, we break down the nine most covetable trends from Copenhagen Fashion Week spring/summer '26

Another Copenhagen Fashion Week has come and gone in a flurry of excellent street style, stunning dinner parties and, yes, rat bags. Also in the mix: runway shows! Though the Copencore aesthetic – breezy tailoring, sneakers, relaxed denim – continues to reign supreme on the streets, on the runway, the mood was notably more soft and feminine, marked by ladylike flourishes, muted tones and sheer fabrics.

That isn’t to say that there wasn’t a certain strength on display this season. In fact, many designers found power in even the most girly of expressions, pairing ultra femme flourishes with that patented Copenhagen cool girl attitude. Anne Sofie Madsen, who returned to the runway after an extended hiatus put it best: “Why is everything female considered uncool or less intellectual?”

Concurrently, there was a return to classic Scandinavian form, with pared-down silhouettes and an influx of greige. Thanks in part to the addition of Filippa K and the return of Freya Dalsjø, Scandinavian minimalism is alive and well on the SS26 runways. Practical form-meets-function dressing for these uncertain times.

Pick your poison – these are the nine takeaway trends from CPHFW SS26.

Handkerchief Hems

To mirror the handkerchiefs worn around necks and head (both on the runways and off), asymmetric handkerchief hems added a sweet signature to delicate frocks, creating enviable movement as models walked the runways.

50 Shades of Greige

Mirroring a well-appointed Scandinavian home, greige was the shade-du-jour this season, a neither here nor there hue that exudes elegance and calm. Wear it top-to-toe – accessories included – for a polished look that's singularly Scandi.

Sheer Socks

The season's standout accessory was a whisper, not a shout: knee-high sheer socks. Adding a hint of texture to any look, they paired just as well with sneakers as stilettos. Even the goth kids at P.L.N got in on the trend, pairing theirs with form-fitting Bermuda shorts.

Bed Bugs

This season, designers didn't need to get out of bed to find inspiration. From the quilts-come-skirts at Rave Review to the duvet dresses at Nicklas Skovgaard, adapting one's bedding to the outside world is the cosiest trend of the season.

String Theory

This season designers created texture and movement by way of sturdy, crafty fringe. Whether exploding raffia or floor-sweeping, this crafty expression is far from flapper.

Totally Tulle

Yes, tulle, that totally 80s, ultra femme explosion was made unexpectedly modern this season, peeking out from beneath Bermuda shorts at Nicklas Skovgaard and worn as a bathing suit wrap at OpéraSPORT.

Modern Victorian

Corsets, bloomers and stiff, high necks – Victorian details are modernised by way of leather and plaid. A cheeky take on something seemingly bygone that feels thoroughly of the moment.

Sensual Scarves

A matching neck scarf, simply thrown on or tied around the head just so, adds instant sensuality and sophistication to any look.

No fuss minimal looks are back in a big way. Simplistic, functional, Scandinavian – we love to see it.
