In the (tour) closet with Sombr: We go backstage at his first Stockholm show

By Vogue Scandinavia's Video Team

Vogue Scandinavia's ‘In the Closet’ series takes you where you've always wanted to go: deep inside the wardrobes of our region's most exciting – and stylish – personalities. In this special episode, we head backstage at the opening Stockholm stop of Sombr’s European tour, where the American indie pop star gives us an inside look at his glam rock wardrobe

Sombr really does wake up like this. “I just get out of the shower – no product – it really is just like this,” he says, running a hand through his signature curly mop. It’s just 20 minutes before the American indie artist takes the stage at Stockholm’s Annexet for the opening show of the European leg of his Late Nights & Young Romance Tour (the following night: Copenhagen) and he’s characteristically unbothered. In fact, he has’t even decided what he’s going to wear. “What should I wear in Stockholm?” he playfully asks the Vogue Scandinavia team.

But this charming nonchalance is all part of the Sombr experience, one that borrows both from early aughts indie pop and British glam rock. The aesthetic is heavily inspired by the latter. Case in point: his look for the night's performance, plucked just moments before he sang his first notes. The vast cut beige trousers, billowy gold shirt and sharp black blazer (the finishing touch? Gold boots) call back to an era many moons before Sombr arrived on this planet (he’s 20). Fittingly, before stepping on stage, he blasts tunes by Richard Ashcroft and The Stone Roses.

In this exclusive video, Sombr walks us through his fabulous Stockholm stage look and reveals his favourite Swedish pop song.
