The 3 standout men’s trends to shop this autumn

By Allyson Shiffman

Fancy a fall wardrobe refresh? We’ve pinpointed three key trends from the autumn/winter 2025 runways easily adaptable to the streets, courtesy of our curated selection of pieces

A man’s wardrobe really comes alive in fall. A dip in temperatures means an increase in layers (yes, we’re picturing this in line-graph form), most notably the introduction of sumptuous sweaters and all iterations of outerwear. Then there are the textures: denim and corduroy, flannel and suede and, of course, knits. The possibilities are endless; a smörgåsbord of pieces to be mixed and matched into standout looks all your own.

The spoils of riches, however, can be overwhelming. But as luck would have it, the autumn/winter 2025 menswear runways offered endless inspiration, including a handful of trends that translate seamlessly into one’s everyday. A touch of editorial elevation to turn every sidewalk step into a bona fide street style moment.

Below, we break down three standout men’s trends to try for autumn/winter 2025, with pieces plucked from luxury Swedish department store NK.

Perennial Prep

Emporio Armani menswear AW25.

Louis Vuitton menswear AW25.

Kenzo menswear AW25.

Zegna AW25.

Retro prep – the sort of looks worn in ivy-covered buildings and near elegant sporting events – is receiving a well-deserved revival. Think rugby shirts and blazers, loafers and cable knits, reimagined in a relaxed and effortless manner that’s more cool than campus. “Prep is back for 2025, but with looser fits, lighter fabrics and fresh colours,” says Vogue Scandinavia fashion director Robert Rydberg, noting the playful preppy takes at Louis Vuitton and Zegna.

Emphasise that sense of nostalgia with generously cut trousers and easy, frayed knits – the sort of pieces that look lived in, like a beloved hand-me-down. Though the influence is a beloved throwback, the impact is distinctly modern and simply smart.

Loud Luxury

Saint Laurent menswear AW25.

Louis Vuitton menswear AW25.

Dolce & Gabbana menswear AW25.

Willy Chavarria menswear AW25.

Sorry, Succession: for autumn/winter 2025 luxury is defiantly loud. “Think bold colours, logos, metallics, chunky jewellery and statement belts,” says Rydberg. “Quiet luxury is out.”

For those looking for a toe-dip into the more-is-more pool, opt for a pop of colour or one unabashedly in-your-face accessory. For the truly fearless dresser, take a cue from Saint Laurent or Willy Chavarria and go full-glam, in thigh-high leather or top-to-toe slime green for a look that truly screams. “Standing out is the new blending in,” says Rydberg.

Get Outside

Bluemarble menswear AW25.

KidSuper menswear AW25.

Giorgio Armani AW25.

Kenzo menswear AW25.

Fashion meets function with outdoor and utility pieces previously reserved for the mountains or forest finding their footing on the runway. Technical jackets with toggles and pulls, pocket-heavy cargo pants and big chunky combat boots all clamoured for the spotlight this season, paired deftly with no-nonsense tailoring for looks that are more city slicker than into the woods. “It’s functional style, upgraded,” says Rydberg. Take, for instance, the expedition-ready looks at Giorgio Armani or the more pared-down utility-wear at Bluemarble.

But best of all, autumn/winter 2025 gives the humble puffer the high-fashion treatment, finding the throw-on-and-go winter weather piece in exaggerated silhouettes and poppy colourways. A Scandinavian staple to keep us cosy through our region’s most relentless season.
