On Saturday night, curtains closed on the Venice Film Festival, but that didn’t signal the end of red carpets. Over in New York, MTV held its annual Video Music Awards, with a bevy of singers and stars ascending on the Barclays Center. The VMAs red carpet is notorious for being a spectacle, with stars pushing boundaries and experimenting a lot more than other events. It’s an occasion to break gender norms, show some skin and do what rock stars do best - rage against the machine. Here are the rule breakers who caught our eye this year.
