In a digitally-orientated world, the perfect device is imperative. Ticking all the right boxes as far as hand-held communication is concerned, Motorola's impressively slender take shows promise
Every once in a while, tech pioneer Motorola unleashes a new innovation that commands our curiosity. This time, the new Edge 70 collection has caught our eye.
Founded by brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin in 1928, Motorola is to thank for the ideation of the car radio and the development of the world’s first cordless, portable telephone. But the brand's tech revolutions didn’t simply stop there. In the past few years they’ve released intriguing gadgets aplenty (Moto Buds looped earbuds or a Swarovski crystal-embellished flip phone anyone?), and have now turned their attention to reimagining the modern mobile phone – starting with the new, wafer-thin Motorola Edge 70 model.
This shining smartphone makes a statement as the expertly-engineered first edition in the telecommunications company’s exciting Edge 70 series. Never one to shy away from diligently-designed devices, Motorola’s latest model boasts an ‘impossibly thin and incredibly tough’ aluminium exterior which allows for efficient transportability and a sleek, stylish appearance. It features decorative flourishes in the form of coloured accents circling around the camera’s frame, building on the brand’s prevailing partnership with the colour curators at Pantone.

Ranked amongst this powerful tool's outstanding attributes is its battery endurance, which, after initial charging, can endure up to 50 hours of continuous usage. One could spend up to 29 hours playing videos incessantly and the phone’s lifespan still wouldn’t waver, which, in a busy world is a welcome (and surprisingly rare) prospect. In addition, the Edge 70's cameras are equipped with 50MP sensors, which endow each photograph with a startlingly vivid 4K quality. These photographs can then be accentuated by an image enhancement engine, a selection of aesthetically appealing presets and Motorola’s ‘Moto AI’ setting. The company's recent implementation of AI is not only reflective of the times we live in, but serves to bolster the phone’s ability to answer time-sensitive questions at breakneck speed, generate bespoke visuals and keep track of important information for the owner’s future convenience.
To boot, if you’re a gadget guru toying with the idea of embarking on hilly hikes or trekking across snow-blanketed climates over the coming months, you're in luck. This particular phone is equipped with IP69 water protection, eight military-grade standards for durability and Corning® Gorilla® Glass 7i, which can collectively withstand adverse weather conditions of almost any kind. No more torrential downpours tainting your tech’s potential – impressive.
