Between raising a toddler and running a creative studio, photographer Michaela Wissén Berglind’s beauty routine is a masterclass in doing more with less. Here, she reveals the overnight trick that saves her hours, the all-natural SPF she’s obsessed with, and the one thing she wishes she never did to her eyebrows

Could you share your daily beauty routine with us, from morning prep to evening wind-down?
If you had asked me this two years ago, my answer would have been completely different. These days, I have a two-year-old, and he has definitely streamlined my beauty routine. It may be smaller, but it’s far more effective.
I usually wake around 6 a.m. to a toddler calling my name. On a good night, I’ve slept with heatless curls in and an overnight sheet mask on, which helps me save time in the morning. After cuddles and coffee, I reach for under-eye patches to help wake myself up.
Because mornings are a bit of a rush, I keep things simple: a hydrating serum followed by a richer face cream before we leave the house. Once I’m back home, I top up the routine with the rest of my skincare and makeup.
Evenings are about winding down with my husband. That alone time is a really important part of how I take care of myself. Before bed, I give my skin a little extra attention with my go-to products, pop in heatless curls again, sometimes use my LED mask if I remember, and try to get to bed early.

How do you transition your look from daytime to evening? Are there specific products or techniques you find indispensable?
If I’m transitioning from day to night, I just add whatever I skipped in the morning. I usually don’t wear mascara during the day, so that’s always the first thing I reach for. I’ll add a light brown or beige shadow to my eyelids and spend a bit more time on my hair. If I’m feeling extra, I might rewash and blow-dry it.
What products do you always have in your handbag – whether headed for a night out or for a red-eye flight?
I try to keep things minimal, mostly because of limited space. But I always carry my Mason Pearson hairbrush, my Westman Atelier concealer, a Chanel lipstick I love, and a simple chapstick.

What is your holy grail beauty product that you would recommend to anyone, and why?
Since discovering heatless curls, I can’t live without them. They’re easy to use, easy to pack, save me a ton of time, and always give great results. I also love everything from Rudolph Care. Their products are all natural, which I really appreciate. If I had to pick two, I’d recommend the Açaí Facial Oil, which gives the most beautiful glow, and their SPF products. Right now, I’m especially into the Sun Body Lotion Shimmer SPF 30. It has a subtle shimmer and is perfect for beach days.
I’m also obsessed with Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream. I go through it so quickly because I use it constantly. I just can’t get enough of it.
If you could give your younger self one piece of beauty advice, what would it be?
Embrace your quirks. I used to cover up my beauty marks, and now I wish I hadn’t. One day, they fade, and you’ll want them back. Also, don’t overpluck your eyebrows. I had thick, bushy brows and didn’t realise how cool they would become. Appreciate your natural beauty at every stage. Those little details make you unique.
