Copenhagen Fashion Week regular Mary Jäggi (@maryljean) wed her long-time partner Phillip in an intimate Zurich civil wedding. From foregoing a proposal to rejecting many traditions, the couple share every detail from their wedding with Vogue Scandinavia
It was, as the couple and their friends describe, movie-worthy magic that first brought Mary and Phillip Jäggi together. The pair – Mary, a part-time primary school teacher and influencer, and Phillip, an interior architect – initially crossed paths at a festival in Switzerland, though the timing wasn’t quite right. It was a chance encounter on a later flight from Cologne back to Switzerland that reunited them. “We randomly ran into each other at the gate,” Mary recalls. “We ended up sitting next to each other. That flight became our very first date.” 12 years on, the couple have not only just married, but are also expecting their first child.
"There was no official proposal," explained the bride and mother-to-be, noting it was about two months before their wedding day that the duo decided to get married. "I felt the desire to share the same last name as a family and, on a practical level, to have everything settled before giving birth at the hospital. It wasn’t about tradition… it was about timing, connection and building a life that already felt very real." It was from there that planning frantically began.
