Taking over the Planetarium, Louis Vuitton celebrates its new Copenhagen store with an evening of music, celestial visuals and a curated creative crowd
Leave it to Louis Vuitton to host an evening that is quite literally out of this world. To fete its stunning new Copenhagen store, which just opened its doors at Amagertorv 1C, the French fashion house welcomed a curated group of the city’s It girls, artists and cultural shakers to the Danish capital’s Planetarium for a night guided by the stars. Unfolding beneath the venue’s vast dome, it brought together French heritage, Copenhagen creativity and a little bit of otherworldly magic.
It began with a curated artistic performance; a heady combination of live orchestral music as planets, constellations and stars projected on the dome overhead. Dubbed “A Bright New Beginning”, the immersive experience set the tone for the night, instantly transporting guests somewhere else entirely. It was no coincidence that the evening paid homage to Louis Vuitton’s ‘Art of Travel’; the singular allure of packing up a suitcase (monogrammed, perhaps) or trunk and whisking away to far flung locales (it’s a notion introduced by the House’s founder, many moons ago). Dotting the auditorium were Copenhagen’s most notable creatives, including Freja Wewer and Ilirida Krasniqi (both dressed by Louis Vuitton) as well as renowned artist Esben Weile Kjær.
Then came an unmissable performance by Mina Okabe, a Danish artist whose sound embodies Louis Vuitton’s savoir faire – not to mention that aforementioned notion of worldliness (the 24-year-old singer-songwriter grew up bouncing between London, New York, Manila and, of course, Copenhagen). As her ethereal voice, steeped in emotion, filled the space, guests nearly floated off this planet.
Like any unforgettable evening, it ended on the dance floor, beneath the twinkling stars, dotted with Louis Vuitton’s signature Monogram Flower.
