Spanish-made, Danish designed label Kettel Atelier invited guests to explore the relationship between spontaneity and craftsmanship at its Copenhagen Fashion Week showcase
When encountering Kettel Atelier's offering at Copenhagen Fashion Week, one must immediately discard any conventional expectations. This is not a runway show. It is not even a typical fashion presentation. What unfolds instead is something far more intimate, fluid, and thought-provoking: a living installation.
The Spanish label, guided by the visionary creative direction of Dane Laura Tønder, invited guests into an immersive, multidisciplinary environment where the boundaries between fine art, fashion, and sustainability dissolved gracefully.
Titled 'Unravel', the experience was less about the spectacle and far more about presence; a carefully orchestrated moment where garments existed in dialogue with space, body, and viewer. As part of a carefully choreographed two-hour showcase, attendees bore witness to a powerful rejection of traditional formats. What unfolded was not a linear presentation, but an expression rooted in bohemian sensibility and upcycled craftsmanship.
Here, fashion was not shown; it was felt. Every thread, every fold, every loop and natural fibre seemed to echo the installation's deeper message: that sustainability is not merely a material choice, but a way of being – intentional, aware, and deeply connected to the world around us.
Models wore meticulously handcrafted, one-of-a-kind showpieces, alongside vintage-inspired designs that reflected Kettel Atelier's signature blend of nostalgia and innovation. Ethereally deconstructed silhouettes floated through the space, crafted from delicate lace, sheer textiles, and vintage materials. The collection stayed true to the brand's characteristically airy, muted palette, punctuated occasionally by richer notes of chocolate brown and deep mahogany. The result was a breath of fresh air; romantic yet grounded, ephemeral yet enduring.
Canvases were brought to life before the audience's eyes, paintings masterfully whipped up in real time by the artist Bille Who, echoing the spontaneity and imperfection that defines true artistry. Artistic performances ebbed and flowed throughout the space, seemingly woven into the fabric of the showcase. All this inferred an unpolished spectacle and a glimpse behind the curtain – an invitation into the raw, chaotic, and deeply human process of creation that fuels the spirit of Kettel Atelier. Here, the act of making was sacred as every frayed edge, step, and brushstroke told a story of intentionality and authenticity.
