It's fair to say that 27-year-old Kelly Gale has packed a lot into her career already. Born in Sweden to an Australian father and mother of Indian origin, Kelly Gale was discovered age 12 by model scouts before making her international modelling debut for H&M. Just three years later, age 17, she was walking for Chanel; at 18 years old she became a Victoria’s Secret model. But it's her Amazonian good looks and athletic physique that make her the epitome of a modern model as this beauty CV proves.
Mermaid waves
Undone mermaid hair is ubiquitous for summer and a look Kelly has made her off-duty signature. A more sculpted version of beach waves, apply an oil or finishing creme with built-in heat protection (we rate Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil) to wet strands and let your hair air dry. Section the hair and wrap it around a curling wand, pulling down as you release so that the curl remains loose.
Next-to-natural bronzer
Here, Kelly delivers a lesson in how to mimic a next-to-natural tan with what looks like cream bronzer buffed into the high points of her face: around the hairline, over the tops of cheeks and down the bridge of the nose. A smattering of highlighter keeps the look fresh, not muddy.
Makeup free glow
Kelly's flawless skin may be down to the açai bowls she swears by, which are loaded with anthocyanin, a potent antioxidant. She's also been spotted using the Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Plumping Serum on her Instagram, which she says "left my skin plump and juicy thanks to its three top-performing moisture boosters: hyaluronic acid, squalane and polyglutamic acid."
Monochromatic berry
Proof that 'matchy-matchy' monochromatic makeup never goes out of fashion, Kelly paired a gorgeous berry lipstick with a synergistic shade of blusher. What makes the look work? Everything else remains pared pack, with just black eyeliner and mascara to frame her eyes.
Day-time tight lining
Touted as 'invisible eyeliner', tightlining involves lining the upper and lower waterline (the area inside the lashline) for added definition. Kelly's use of dark brown liner, softened with just a hint of copper shadow, gives the illusion of thicker lashes and brings out the golden flecks in her eyes.
Sun-kissed babylights
Kelly's hair looks like its been brightened up using caramel babylights, a low-commitment iteration of highlights. Hair is sectioned very finely - just a few strands at a time - to achieve an effect akin to hair naturally lightened by the sun.
Strong brows
Kelly's full-bodied, perfectly arched brows are the star of the show here. Makeup artist Patrick Ta created this look and his Major Brow Shaping Wax is one of the best for holding brushed-up brows in place for a just-laminated effect.
