Sweatpants have officially entered the office group chat. Somewhere between airy balloon silhouettes taking over our wardrobes and corporate dress codes becoming a little more relaxed, it seems joggers have found a new job description. The real question is no longer if sweatpants belong at the office, but how to style them for the boardroom – and we've got the stylist's cheat sheet
There was a time when sweatpants and the office had a clear relationship: they did not see each other. Sweatpants were reserved for Sundays on the sofa or the kind of grocery run where you hope not to run into anyone you know. Turning up to a meeting in them would have felt less as a styling choice and more like a last-minute Teams call with the kept camera strictly above chest level.
Now, work happens everywhere, and somewhere along the way the dress codes loosened. Was it during lockdown? Somewhere around the third oat milk latte of 2021? Hard to pinpoint. I just know that it is happening.
