It's with sheer delight that we proclaim transparent tops to be the street styler staple for summer dressing

The season of undress is upon us, and shedding layers has never looked this good. Sporting flouncy mini-skirts, mid-riff baring cropped knits, and sultry bra tops, street stylers are rallying behind anything that flaunts a little more flesh. The latest addition in their styling arsenal? The transparent top. Seen on the autumn/winter 2022 runways of sartorial power houses like Cecilie Bahnsen, Fendi, and Jacquemus, our favourite tastemakers have been quick to adopt it on the streets of the fashion capitals.

To be completely transparent, we all saw the reign of sheer tops coming. Throughout the blazing heat of the menswear shows in Paris and Milan, skin-tight long-sleeved shirts were made weather appropriate due to their sheer nature. This skin-baring iteration of the trend does require some layering prowess, either by pairing with tonal lingerie or a daring full-frontal display. If you find the trend slightly too revealing, sheer pleated tulle is the best ticket to slightly more coverage.
