Discover where our editors stay during Copenhagen Fashion Week

By Josefin Forsberg

Listen up, because we're about to let you in on the Danish capital’s ultimate hotel hide-out and 'home away from home' for fashion insiders – Vogue Scandinavia editors included

Travel – be it for a shoot, a celebrity interview, the launch of a new product or for fashion week – is an integral part of the fashion industry. As such, those in the game – models, editors, photographers, and more – learn to make the most of their hotel stays, and know well what constitutes a good one.

From a central locale to discerning décor, many parameters dictate where we prefer to stay when we go away. And in Copenhagen, Hotel Skt Annae fulfils them all. Perfectly situated right by picturesque Nyhavn in the heart of Copenhagen, this is where you’ll find our editors in between shows during fashion week.

Below, discover how we spend 24 hours in our home away from home during Copenhagen Fashion Week:

A hearty breakfast to keep us going

One of the best parts of a hotel stay is a delicious breakfast in a beautiful setting, and Skt Annae does not disappoint. Every morning, the friendly staff here serve a healthy buffet with the best ingredients and produce the Nordics has to offer. In addition, Skt Annae has been granted the Organic Silver Certification from the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark, meaning that more than half of what you pile on your plate is organic.

As such, it is the perfect time to catch your breath before the shows. Catch our team nibbling on open-faced smoked salmon sandwiches and sipping a black cup of coffee, loading up before a long day.

Post-show writing in the hotel lobby

Most writers have no issue typing articles on the go, relying on our notes apps and laptops piled on our laps as we hunker down outside show spaces. But, if we get the chance, we always prefer a calm surrounding with the perfect buzz of atmospheric white noise in the background.

That’s why you will most likely find our writers typing up runway reviews settled on plush couches in the warmly lit lobby or – if the weather allows – perched outside with a view of Skt Annæ Plads. And, if we can afford the time around lunch, we will gobble up a sandwich by The Chill-ee: Hotel Skt Annae’s sandwich bar, beloved by locals.

Making time to meet friends before evening events

Even though our schedule is packed during fashion week, bouncing from show -to-show and attending evening events, we still aim to see friends and make time for important meetings. That’s why we appreciate all the comforts of Hotel Skt Annae.

During the summer, we set our tête-à-têtes on the top floor, finding a table on the rooftop terrace. Furnished with cosy nooks and a lusciously wild garden, it is a fantastic facility to enjoy a quiet conversation. During winter, the bar offers a cosy and comfortable corner to catch up in.

A spot of dinner

Set in what could arguably be Copenhagen’s most beautiful atrium, Skt Annae’s Michelin guide restaurant, The Shrimp, boasts a mouthwatering array of oceanic dishes. The lobster and shrimp – fresh from local fjords – are (naturally) a hit.

If you’re feeling too wiped after a day sprinting all around Copenhagen, the hotel’s room service may be just the thing for you. Whether a simple snack – such as the hotel’s crispy french fries with truffle mayonnaise – or a full meal, the hotel will happily bring whatever your hearts desire to your door.

Some rest and relaxation before another day of fashion week

Renovated in 2019, Skt Annae features 145 well-appointed and endlessly inviting rooms and suites. From the penthouse (made for those who are looking for something special in their stay) to the single bed (for those on the go), all the rooms are finished with the utmost details – be it handmade tiles from Italy or delicate brass luminaries in the bathroom or impossibly plush pillows (with the option to select your personal favourite from the hotel’s pillow menu.

As for how we wind down at the end of the night? We switch on the Chromecast – preferably putting on whatever true crime documentary that currently has us in its claws – and make ourselves some complimentary tea to sip while settling in for the night.
