Herskind - AW24

By Josefin Forsberg

This season we delve into Herskind's (new) 'New Look' – midi skirts, cinched waists, petticoats and all

This season, Herskind is all about waist-defining moments. "The AW24 collection features distinct nods to '50s style," says the brand's eponymous founder, Birgitte Herskind. Presenting the collection in one of the oldest buildings in Copenhagen, Helligåndshuset, the brand invited a curated cast of "cool cat models" to walk the runway sporting cinched waists and fluffed-out midi skirts — elements that evoke the essence of the 'New Look' while stepping confidently into the future, melding with the modern Herskind wardrobe.

"I consistently experiment with contrasts, blending feminine and masculine styles," says Herskind. "For this collection I've explored the juxtaposition of elegance and rebellious grace." Describing her inspiration, Herskind explains how the collection is a nostalgic nod to "the ladylike fashion of the '50s and the minimalism of the '90s". Take, for instance, the sharply cut coat with structured shoulders or the pairing of a ladylike blazer with a balloon skirt. Contrasts crop up in the styling as well, with patent leather coats draped over delicate slips, classic shift dresses styled with a slew of piercings, and oversized blazers layered over a barely-there base.

The AW24 season also sees Herskind reimagine its signature suiting alongside the '50s elements, playful pairing blazers with miniskirts, snug waistcoats, and a novel graphic-cut jacket featuring a distinctive one-button closure. Meticulously crafted knitted lace manifest in sleek dresses, delicate tops, and floor-length skirts. As for the stand-out looks in the line up, Herskind pinpoints two: A striking knit dress with a voluminous off-shoulder top and a form-fitted silhouette and the brand's lustrous balloon mini skirt adorned with 3D roses.
