From dressing up as Jessica Rabbit to morphing into a giant earthworm, the supermodel has spent more than two decades proving that Halloween is about more than just looking sexy. It's about looking completely, gloriously unrecognisable. Here, we chart Heidi Klum's best Halloween costumes over the years
Someone wise once said: "In the regular world, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut, and no other girls can say anything about it."
If you've paid even the slightest attention to pop culture over the past two decades, you'll recognise this immortal line from Mean Girls. And, as anyone who has ever ventured out on October 31st will know, there's a certain truth to it – minus the slut shaming, of course. As the spooky season peaks, hemlines rise, and otherwise innocent creatures, think cats, mice, and bunnies, undergo transformations that would make Regina George proud.
Heidi Klum, however, has clearly and happily missed the memo. Since hosting her first Halloween party in 2000, the German supermodel has built a rather spectacular career doing the exact opposite. Where others see a chance to show a little skin, Klum sees a chance to grow an extra limb, sprout a beak, or become an enormous, disgustingly realistic invertebrate. From apples to apes, butterflies to body parts, there’s seemingly nothing the undisputed Queen of Halloween won't transform herself into.
Below, we revisit every one of Klum's Halloween looks since the turn of the millennium. Spoiler alert: sexy was rarely on the agenda.

2000 – Pippi Longstocking goes goth
Every icon has to start somewhere, and for Klum, it was with a rather kinky interpretation of Swedish great Astrid Lindgren's beloved character, Pippi Longstocking. For her inaugural Halloween party, the supermodel opted for a black leather ensemble, complete with studs, dramatic lashes and gravity-defying pigtails. Think children's book heroine meets underground Berlin nightclub. It marked the beginning of a Halloween obsession that would eventually make Klum's annual party one of the most anticipated events on the celebrity calendar. Little did we know what was coming.
