Hats off to Copenhagen Fashion Week’s boldest headwear

By Eleanor Kittle

You can leave your hat on this Copenhagen Fashion Week, especially if it's a little avant-garde...

Copenhagen Fashion Week's street style is currently a masterclass in statement headwear. The practical balaclava – a winter staple – has sweetly morphed into the "baby-licious" bonnet: a charming, chin-tied silhouette proving essential for the sartorial yet sensible show-goer braving the chill. Tied-under-the-chin silk scarves have given way to a more whimsical medium, now in knitted form, ideal for those bracing the sub-zero temperatures.

Further cementing the focus on unexpected hats, we've seen the return of the pageboy, both classically tailored and oversized, and the ubiquity of Jackie O-esque pillboxes. Even faux fur has found new life, ascending from coat trim to sculptural headwear, giving the dramatic illusion of a lion's mane gently tousled by the bracing breeze.

Below, see all the crazy, cute and quirky caps dominating street style in Copenhagen:
