At a breakfast amidst CPHFW, Ganni and Disney welcomed a throng of Ganni girls to celebrate their new capsule and fanzine, starring Daisy Duck
Ganni brought an international icon to CPHFW this season: the one and only Daisy Duck. The beloved character is the star of the Danish brand’s second capsule collection with Disney, which was celebrated today at an intimate breakfast at book store New Mags. Released alongside the 16-piece collection is a charming Disney-illustrated fanzine, which finds Daisy exploring Copenhagen, embracing the eclectic Danish aesthetic and even visiting the vibrant home of Ganni founder Ditte Reffstrup.
Though the zine marks the first time Daisy has entered Reffstrup’s abode, the designer’s relationship with the Disney icon goes way back. “I’ve known Daisy Duck for as long as I can remember,” she says. “She’s one of those characters from childhood that stays with you. She’s unapologetically herself, and I think that’s one of the reasons why she continues to resonate across generations.”

It’s this bold individuality that made Daisy the ultimate Ganni girl. Even her signature look – the pouf-sleeved sweater, often pink or purple, and the massive bow atop her head – appear plucked from a Ganni runway. “Daisy Duck doesn't dress to fit in; she dresses to reflect how she feels in the moment,” says Reffstrup. “That sense of play and individuality is something that feels very Ganni.”
Comprised of both apparel and a handful of delightful handbags, the capsule captures, as Reffstrup puts it, “the charm and energy” shared by Daisy and Ganni. Several pieces play on the comic theme, the panels from the zine splashed across t-shirts and crewnecks. Elsewhere, the graphic of Daisy’s indelible face is abstractly cut mid-beak. The standout is a bowl denim set, adorned with tiny daisies, the characters face peeking out from a pocket.

At the breakfast, guests were swept into Ganni and Daisy’s shared universe; a Disney illustrator was on-hand to create Daisy artworks to hand out to guests as they nibbled on cinnamon buns, briefly turning a corner of Copenhagen into the most magical place on earth.
