Now you can drench your space with that rustic summerhouse 'cottage-core' feeling, as Swedish curtain brand Gotain unveils its latest swoon-worthy launch: the 'Cottage Collection'

The cottage holds a special place in Nordic life. Perhaps you spent your childhood summers at a cabin perched by a lake or the sea, or maybe you’ve acquired one of these idyllic countryside escapes yourself. Either way, there’s something unequivocally nostalgic, comforting and blissful about Scandinavia’s summerhouse culture – an unmatched tranquil feeling that Swedish brand Gotain channels in its latest curtain drop, aptly named the ‘Cottage Collection’.

“I think many people are craving emotional comfort and grounding – something that feels real and reassuring in a fast, digital world,” says Lovisa Häger, the creative director of Gotain. “The cottage, whether real or imagined, represents a kind of safe haven. It’s about slowing down, reconnecting, and surrounding yourself with things that carry meaning or memory.”

Much like the breezy, vibrant textiles found throughout Nordic summerhouses, the ‘Cottage Collection’ hones in on playful prints, introducing two new eye-catching patterns – ‘The Cottage Stripe’ and ‘The Cottage Sweet Pea’ – to Gotain’s offering. Rendered on crisp, gauzy woven linen and available in four subdued hues – including muted blue, mustard yellow, and brick red – the patterns evoke a romantic, sun-washed vintage mood, sure to infuse quiet character into any space, whether in urban or countryside settings.

“The collection was inspired by the idea of retreat, the longing for a slower rhythm and a sense of ease. We kept returning to memories of quiet summer houses, creaky floors, dappled light through linen curtains, and the comforting simplicity of everyday rituals,” Häger continues, noting that vintage tiles, garden photographs, and details from old interiors – such as striped aprons, faded wallpapers, wildflowers on the kitchen table – populated the mood board. “It’s rooted in a kind of Scandinavian nostalgia with a British touch, but also in something universal: the desire for softness, familiarity, and beauty in the small things.”

The ‘Cottage Collection’ is available as curtain panels, Roman blinds, valances and statement cushions, offering endless styling possibilities from charming accents to anchoring an entire room. “These fabrics are designed to be layered and lived with,” Häger says. With the delicate, lived-in patterns and the soft shades, the pieces seamlessly blend into a range of interiors – and can even be paired with existing curtains.

“Try ‘The Cottage Stripe’ as long curtains in a kitchen or bedroom, or ‘The Cottage Sweet Pea’ as a Roman blind or a soft bed canopy,” recommends Häger. “Don’t be afraid to mix them with bolder pieces – the softness of the patterns allows them to balance stronger colors or more graphic elements. The goal is always to create a space that feels personal, comfortable, and quietly joyful.”
