Few hair do’s are more effective at dressy events than a swept-over vintage wave. We’ve been eyeing the return of the side part since the early days of 2025, and now the Golden Globe Awards 2026 red carpet has cemented this nostalgia-laden look’s revival. Below, we list the celebrities heralding this hairstyle for the awards season ahead
Marilyn Monroe, Dita Von Teese, Jessica Rabbit and more: a Hollywood head of hair has long been synonymous with glossy, serpentine S-curls cascading from a deep side part. Even so, the past few years have seen this oh-so-classic look sidelined in favour of sleeker, gelled-down styles and deliberately tousled textures. But if the Golden Globe Awards 2026 red carpet is anything to go by, the awards season ahead will mark the grand return of vintage waves and the deep side part.
The signs of the side-part revival have been simmering for a while. As someone who dodged the swept-over style for most of my life, favouring a pin-straight middle part for every occasion, even I find myself swayed by the flattering swoops appearing across runways and red carpets of late.
Take actors Ayo Edebiri and Selena Gomez, for example. Both made a strong case for a polished, cropped take on the look, opting for brushed-out S-waves with side parts aligned to the arch of the eyebrow. Then there was Parker Posey, arguing for a wilder interpretation with tighter curls in a distinctly Monroe-esque moment, while Hannah Einbinder wound the clock back to the 1930s, sparking fresh cravings for a Marlene Dietrich-worthy ’do.

Then there was a slew of celebrities sporting both Jessica Rabbit–esque ensembles and hairdos. Ana de Armas and Jennifer Garner both borrowed the sequinned column gown silhouette, albeit in black, while Alicia Silverstone turned heads in a ravishing ruby-red number. All three, however, echoed the cartoon character’s signature swept-over hairstyle.
Finally, congratulations were in order for Hailee Steinfeld, who glowed in an embellished pale pink gown paired with classic Hollywood waves. Her best accessory, however, was the carefully cradled baby bump.
In conclusion: Consider me influenced. After years of clinging to a pin-straight middle part, the case for the side part has become hard to ignore. And if 2026 is asking us to pick a side, I’m finally prepared to part ways with the middle.
