Freya Dalsjø - SS26

By Eleanor Kittle

Freya Dalsjø makes a triumphant to Copenhagen Fashion Week with a collection that transends not only season but traditional fashion vocabulary

It has been six long, anticipatory years since Freya Dalsjø graced the runway, and while the wait may have felt torturous, the brand's return to the Copenhagen Fashion Week schedule proved more than worth it.

Amid a sea of spring/summer '26 collection, the Danish label stood apart, offering something more enduring. Rather than chasing seasonal trends, Dalsjø presented a quietly powerful, perennial wardrobe - garments designed to transcend the fashion calendar and speak to something deeper.

In a world increasingly defined by flux, the labels work resonated with a quiet insistence on presence, purpose, and permanence. Each piece felt considered, not just for how it looked, but how it might live, both with the wearer and through time.

Comprising solely of natural fibres, every look that graced the runway moved with an effortless fluidity. Silhouettes – whether rendered in silk, wool, or cashmere – gently caressed the models' forms, floating gracefully rather than merely conforming. Double-faced, hand-sewn cashmere and delicately handcrafted silken garments were masterfully juxtaposed with sculptural woven leather pieces, creating a dialogue between softness and structure that felt almost celestial.

The collection's exceptional craftsmanship took centre stage, amplified by the label's signature minimalist palette. Subtle hues of ivory, charcoal, java, mahogany, and black served not only to unify the presentation, but also to honour the innate qualities of each material - whether it be supple leather, plush cashmere, or fine llacoon (sourced through the brand's recent collaboration with Felefasa, a revered artisan producer based in China's historic Hangzhou region).

Pushing boundaries further, select garments were fashioned from more unexpected materials, including horsehair and even wood - chosen for their tactile honesty, enduring strength, and visual richness. These unconventional choices underscored the collection's commitment to material integrity and innovation, offering depth and character beyond the traditional fashion vocabulary.
