Discover the 4-step routine our beauty editor relies on to repair damaged hair

By Josefin Forsberg

Our beauty editor Josefin Forsberg is calling it now: this tried and tested Bond Repair routine is the solution to damaged hair

As a beauty journalist, I’ve made it my duty to sift through countless products, seeking those that genuinely deliver. Every now and then, a product range falls in my path that meets its claims head-on. The latest? L’Oréal Paris’s Elvital Bond Repair range. Here’s my experience:

Elvital Bond Repair background

Here's the deal: hair is made up of millions of bonds that give it structure and strength. When they break, through brushing, bleaching, heating, and colouring, hair becomes weak and damaged. That's where a bond repair formula comes in, to help restore those broken bonds.

Take L’Oréal Paris’s Elvital Bond Repair formula, as an example. These products are enriched with citric acid and go beneath the hair surface into the hair cortex to help to strengthen and rebuild damaged bonds. And after a summer spent in the sun, my damaged strands could use some deep repair.

First impressions

My first rendezvous with the Bond Repair range was with the Pre-Shampoo Rescue Treatment. I was intrigued to see how it would help the full routine. Applying the product was a straightforward process; I bundled my hair up and let it sit as I went about my morning – brewing coffee and attending to household chores – before following it with the rest of this fearsome foursome: the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in serum.

The impact of the full four-step range was palpable. The shampoos cleansed effectively, the conditioner shielded every strand, while the leave-in serum left my usually unruly (read: frizzy bird's nest) hair shinier as a result of the rebuilt hair bonds. Elvital Bond Repair works on all types of damaged hair, rebuilding inner broken hair bonds and repairing damaged hair from the cortex to the cuticle*. As a result, the four-step process left my hair feeling stronger, easier to manage and shinier**.

Final thoughts

Trying the products for three weeks was the final test, as this timeframe would allow me to truly measure my results. Consistent usage allowed the products to fully integrate into my hair care routine, and the transformation was undeniable.

What genuinely impressed me was the Elvital Bond Repair Leave-In Serum. I’ve often been sceptical of leave-in products due to my hair type – fine yet thick, resulting in most leave-in products weighing down my hair. However, this serum, with its 20 per cent complex with citric acid, became my hair’s new best friend.

In the vast sea of hair care products, the L’Oréal Paris's Elvital Bond Repair range is a rare find I (almost) wish I could keep under lock and key. From the robust pre-shampoo treatment to the light-weight leave-in serum, it's a regimen that delivers on its promises. For those on the hunt for a solution to rebuild their hair, your search might just end here. As for me, these bottles have earned a permanent spot on my bathroom shelf.
