Céline Dion has kicked off the year with exactly the kind of hilarious energy we’ve been craving. Taking to Instagram, the Canadian queen of power ballads, dressed in an entirely on-the-nose Celine sweatshirt, plonks her 2024 Dior Canvas Toujours bag, printed with a black-and-white Paris skyline, onto her desk.
The video begins innocently enough, as Dion pulls out breath mints and a spray hand sanitiser. Then, without warning, an old rotary phone emerges, followed by a handheld microphone, because, as she deadpans, she “always needs to be ready to sing”. It’s knowingly over the top, played entirely for laughs, but one detail feels unmistakably sincere: the presence of Byredo’s Blanche hand cream. As one commenter aptly put it, “You know it’s real because the lotion is almost empty.”
First launched as an eau de parfum in 2009, Blanche’s clean, fresh, lightly floral scent, often likened to freshly laundered linen or warm skin, later became part of Byredo’s permanent hand care collection in November 2020. Today, we’d argue it’s approaching icon status of its own. Almost as iconic as the diva herself.
