From Kate Moss at Glastonbury to Vanessa Hudgens at Coachella, denim has always been festival fashion's common denominator. This year, the most convincing case for it was made not in a muddy field, but on the sun-baked concrete of Barcelona's Parc del Fòrum. Below, we track the best street style looks – and the Scandinavians we spotted sporting a pair of Levi's
Be it Coachella, Glastonbury or Roskilde, festival fashion has always had a common thread. Or tag, really. Denim. Specifically, Levi's. Few brands have become as synonymous with this specific combination of very muddy boots and very good music.
The blueprint was set early by a particular breed of British It-girls. Kate Moss and Alexa Chung in cut-offs, traversing Somerset paddocks with a sangfroid that suggested they were unbothered by the weather forecast. Then there was Sienna Miller circa 2004 in a mini denim dresses, boho belt and Ugg boots. A few years later, across the Atlantic, the likes of Vanessa Hudgens and Gigi Hadid offered their own desert-friendly take: crochet tops and daisy dukes, turquoise jewellery strictly optional.

That was then. Today, Coachella has drifted so far into ass-less chap territory that the original denim cut-off come off as almost quaint. Other festivals have picked up the slack as the more credible source of what people are actually wearing. Primavera Sound in Barcelona is the most compelling of them.
This year's edition drew a strong crowd of tastemakers. Among the notable names spotted in the Parc del Fòrum: actors Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson, models Lila Moss, Lily Chee and Stefanie Giesinger, and Danish attendees Rasmus Schandorf, Amanda Nielsen and Naomi Anwer. All off them leaning into the effortless denim uniform that has become the festival's unofficial dress code: mini shorts, classic cut-off 501s and sorts intermingled with breezy bohemian cotton dresses, timely World Cup t-shirts and superb layers in the form of heavy-weight denim jackets.
On stage, the Levi's presence was equally strong. Fakemink performed in 501® Original Selvedge Jeans, while Role Model completed his Friday night set in full denim. Even Addison Rae's dancers took to the stage in Levi's looks. Below, we track the tastemakers who made the strongest case for denim this side of the Mediterranean.
